Sometimes the best creative projects come from just saying "yes" to hanging out.
This week I dive into how reconnecting with my old friend Mitch Bell (Thunder Grey Pilgrim, knifecream) at a memorial for Garek Druss has turned into an unexpected game design collaboration. From weekly design meetings to building card visualizers with AI tools, it's been a reminder that I'm actually good at stuff and that creating with friends is exactly what we need right now.
Quick Debacle updates: Still working on getting that incredible Singulars record out (IT’S SO GOOD), plus the Enter Ear project is progressing with some very cool screen-printed folding poster sleeves. And if you're in Seattle, Drongo Fest is happening this weekend - I'll try to make Friday night at least
But honestly, this whole experience has me thinking about how stepping away from people for too long can make you forget the joy of just... making stuff together. Whether it's music, games, or whatever - the world's messy enough that we need to be with each other and create things that matter to us.
Sometimes you meet someone when you're 19 and it takes 20 years to realize you should be building things together. That's okay. Perfect timing doesn’t exist.
