Three amazing records I had completely forgotten about + Three killer pre-orders live NOW for Bandcamp Friday
Shuffling through decades of forgotten music reminded me why I do this. Plus: Spiritual Exit, Enter Ear, and Andrew Weathers' remixed classic - available now
The algorithm has me in a chokehold. Or maybe it's just visibility. Either way, I've been stuck in the same listening patterns for too long, and I didn't even realize it until I started shuffling through everything I've ever downloaded.
This week I threw my entire server on shuffle, all the obscure noise releases, weird blogspot downloads from Aquarius-era, forgotten techno from 2013 and it's been genuinely life-changing. Birchville Cat Motel's Gunpowder Temple of Heaven had me almost crying a flag football practice…
If you're feeling algorithmically trapped, try this. Just shuffle your whole damn collection. You'll be amazed what you forgot you loved.
And speaking of things to love: Today is Bandcamp Friday, and we're launching three pre-orders simultaneously because the bottleneck got real:
Spiritual Exit - Fragment Record: Aaron Davis delivers what might be his career-defining work. Earth/Growing/Mountains stacked emotional industrial drones.
Enter Ear: Ian Hawk (Tecumseh/Failings) with drummers Greg Fox and Mike Meanstreetz. Ecstatic, hypnotic, aggressive, minimalist-maximalist. Plus bonus handmade packaging and poster.
Andrew Weathers Ensemble - Fuck Everybody, You Can Do Anything: The 10th anniversary edition. Completely remixed and remastered. One of the most influential experimental records of the last decade, and I will fight you about that.
Use code ROCKTOBER for 15% off through the weekend. These three records represent some of the best work I've ever released. I really hope you check them out.
Go rediscover something you forgot you loved. Support the real stuff and be kind to each other.
Cheers,
Sam
